WHAT ARE HORMONES?
Hormones play an integral role in your overall health. Hormones are your body’s chemical messengers.
Produced in the endocrine glands, these powerful chemicals travel around your bloodstream, telling tissues and organs what to do. They help control many of your body’s major processes, including metabolism and reproduction.
When you have a hormonal imbalance, you have too much or too little of a certain hormone. Even tiny changes can have serious effects throughout your whole body. Hormone levels fluctuate throughout your lifetime and can decline or become out of balance as you age.
Common symptoms of hormone imbalance include:

What is BHRT?
Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) is the use of bio-identical hormones to replace and rebalance the body’s hormones during the changes leading up to menopause, andropause and beyond.
Bio-identical hormones are identical in molecular structure to our own hormones, which allows them to be processed in the body in the same way as our natural hormones. They are sourced from plants, namely yams. A substance is extracted and modified in specialist laboratories to create exact replicas to the hormones we produce.
BHRT can also be used to treat other hormone-related conditions such as PMS. Commonly prescribed bio-identical hormones are Estrogen, Progesterone, Testosterone and DHEA and Melatonin.
Individually prescribed bio-identical hormones often prove to be the solution when conventional medicine has failed or side effects are too severe.
Bio-identical hormones are not only better tolerated; they can also be individually prescribed and fine-tuned according to your needs.
Hormones
Estrogen
Estrogen is the female hormone that helps regulate a woman’s passage through puberty, fertility and menopause. It is one of the most powerful hormones in the human body. Benefits of estrogen replacements include better mood, increased desire for sex, improved memory, relief from hot flushes and night sweats, relief from vaginal dryness and urinary incontinence.
Progesterone
In addition to its role in fertility, progesterone has a potent effect on mood; it is soothing, calming and relaxing, and can help with sleep and memory. Its benefits include fertility support, regulating the menstrual cycle, improved mood and sleep, bone strength, improved cholesterol, improved stamina. Unless you have had a hysterectomy, progesterone is an essential part of your BHRT treatment to balance estrogen and protect the uterus.
Testosterone
Although it is typically considered a male hormone, women also produce testosterone, but in smaller amounts. It helps to improve libido, energy, muscle mass, bone strength, memory and confidence.
DHEA
DHEA replacement improves sense of wellbeing, energy, memory and immune function.
